Mission in Tanzania, Africa |
Barb serves in Morogoro, Tanzania as one of the ELCA's Global Mission personnel. She is an AIDS/HIV program officer.
Good Shepherd has entered into a Missionary Sponsorship Covenant with ELCA Global Mission and Barb to pray for her, correspond with her, help her tell her story, and support her in various ways.

Midwife Kits Before heading to Tanzania in July 2008, the group collected items to make midwife kits. Items like: crocheted baby caps, receiving blankets, towels, washcloths, soap, etc.
When presented with the individual kits, the doctor at the remote clinic said the kits would encourage more women to come into the clinic to have their babies where the survival rate is higher. At this time only about half of the women come into the clinic to have their babies. |
Gifts for Barb We also collected gifts to bring to Barb. We brought her things like: books, decongestants, chocolate, oatmeal, band-aids, cocoa mix, insect repellant, protein bars and even software to do her taxes!
She was overwhelmed to the point of tears by your kindness and generosity. She even tried to think of how she could make the chocolate into an I.V.
